ILS received funding from the County of Simcoe to offer no fee and subsidized home maintenance and repairs to seniors and people with disabilities. We are currently offering this program in North Simcoe & Area and offer a fixed menu of household tasks which range from changing a light bulb, putting up a grab bar, changing batteries in a smoke detector, to cleaning eavestroughs, etc. Seasonal landscape work such as raking, lawn mowing, and snow removal are offered on a limited, subsidized basis.

At this time, ILS home maintenance & repair services are offered to eligible adults with disabilities and seniors 55+ who live in non-city communities in Simcoe County.
ILS offers a fixed menu of indoor and outdoor tasks, including:
- Changing batteries for a CO2 monitor or smoke detector.
- Installing a CO2 monitor or smoke detector.
- Changing a furnace filter.
- Installation of a grab bar.
- Light bulb replacement.
- Eavestrough Cleaning
- Exterior Window Cleaning
- Leaf Removal
- Grass Cutting
- Grass Trimming
- Driveway snow removal
- Walkway snow removal
This list is subject to change. If you have a task that you need assistance with, please call 705-737-3263 to inquire. Please note, ILS does not shop for the materials required by the client.
There are limits to what services ILS can provide in the Home Maintenance and Repairs Program. This list is subject to change and services NOT provided, include:
- Any interior cleaning/ washing/homemaking
- Moving appliances or furniture
- Spraying for the purpose of pest control
- Fireplace cleaning or care
- Pet care
- Transportation of hazardous products (e.g., propane. etc.)
- Witnessing legal documents
- Assuming Power of Attorney
- Banking or financial assistance
- Picking up food orders (groceries or take-out)
This is a subsidized service that will be based on the client’s income. Some services are free of charge. Clients are required to purchase the material for the task (i.e., purchase the smoke detector and batteries that ILS will install). Details are outlined to the client in their Service Agreement. ILS offers this service on Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The client’s Service Agreement will outline the requested services and frequency for the services. Some services may be a one-time request, while others may be required more regularly.
People interested in obtaining these services from ILS for themselves or a loved one must call ILS at (705) 737-3263 to apply. They will be required to complete a Service Agreement and provide a copy of their most recent Tax Assessment to determine eligibility for subsidized services. Once a task is scheduled:
- ILS will provide the required tools and labour for the assigned task(s).
- Clients are required to supply their own materials. For example, if ILS is installing a smoke detector, ILS will provide the ladder and screwdriver and do the work while the client will supply the smoke detector and batteries. ILS does not shop for the materials required by the client.
