2018 Humanities 101 Program

Humanities 101 at Lakehead University in Orillia…

Do you like to learn about new things?

Are you interested in thinking critically about the world we live in?

Have you ever considered going back to school?  Taking a class?

Have you wondered what it would be like to go to university?

Humanities 101 might be just the right thing for you!

The Humanities 101 program includes:

  • A free one semester non-credit course covering all kinds of things, including Social Work, History, Anthropology, Media Studies, and Environmental Education.
  • Assistance for you to ensure you can participate in the program, including school supplies, class materials, meals, bus or other transportation, and child or adult care.
  • A great opportunity to meet new people, and learn to think outside the box!

We will meet every Wednesday night from January 10th until early April.  After eating dinner together, we’ll meet with a professor, talk about new ideas, and even do some work in the science labs.  At the end of it all, we’ll celebrate our success with a graduation ceremony and gala dinner.

Registration should be completed by November 30th at the latest, and applications will be considered as they arrive.  Sign up now to reserve your spot.

Talk to your service provider about participating in Humanities 101.  It just might be a great opportunity for you!

The Alzheimer Society of Ontario is a founding member of the Ontario Caregiver Coalition (OCC), and OCC has partnered with the Change Foundation to create The Caring Experience: an outreach project to better understand, and ultimately improve, the experiences of people who provide care or support to someone with a health issue.

Specifically, this project will focus on the interaction between family caregivers like you, and the health and community care system.
